Standard car brake hoses are manufactured from synthetic rubber reinforced with multiple layers of fabric braid. They were originally designed for use with drum brakes, but when disc brakes were developed for the racing industry it became apparent that a brake hose was required which could accommodate much higher pressures and temperatures than the expanding standard rubber
brake hoses could.
In the mid 1960’s Earl’s pioneered the use ofSpeed-Flex™extruded Teflon® stainless steel braided hose to solve this problem.
